The RAW:natural born artists network spans the globe, featuring over 100k artists in visual art, music, fashion, film, photography, performance art, hair and makeup, and accessories. After 10 years in business, RAW was looking to evolve. We helped them redesign their website, creating a canvas to display their amazing creatives and providing easier navigation for their users.
Their biggest hurdle in the past was finding the right people to redesign and develop the site. RAW is a custom-built Laravel CMS, developed in 2009. The site is massive, having multiple user types, multiple logged-in user stories, 12 different types of artist profile pages, and a custom event ticketing system. After struggling with several different freelancers, RAW partnered with us to get the project done, once and for all.
By analyzing the user flow on the old site, we realized they emphasized news and artist profiles more than the most important, revenue-driving facet of RAW’s business: their events. The checkout system was also difficult to navigate due to an iterative interface that was developed without a cohesive strategy or vision.
Working with RAW, we brought them a more usable design, focusing on content and interaction. Inspired by content-driven platforms like Airbnb and Pinterest, we created an organized flow to encourage users’ natural drive to scroll. We worked with the RAW marketing team to plan out the story of the pages, making their mission and their services more impactful. With the event checkout system, we invested time into prototyping a simpler flow to achieve an intuitive UI, which makes purchasing easier and increases checkout completion rates.
RAW artists promote ticket sales to their own events and RAW wanted to make that easier than ever. We worked with them to create a minimal app, giving artists the tools they need to sell tickets, download assets, and get ready for shows.
